After installing Rapid Loader, 2 application-wide options must be configured:
- The Case Manager Database; and
- Relativity URLs
Both items may be configured by accessing Options under the Settings Menu. Both settings are shared between Solid Proof and Rapid Loader.

Case Manager Database
The Case Manager Database (CMB) is a database for workspace settings that Rapid Loader uses to interact with Relativity. The CMB should be stored on a network share and backed up regularly.
To configure the CMB, simply specify the folder where the CMB should reside. If the CMB does not yet exist in the folder, the database will be created there. If the CMB already exists in that folder, Rapid Loader will use it.
This concludes the initial CMB setup. Updates to the CMB are done using the Relativity Connector Manager, which is covered later in this document.
At least one Relativity instance URL must be specified for Rapid Loader to connect to Relativity. Logging into Relativity is required at this stage.
Upon successful login to Relativity, the URL will be added to the “Recent Relativity URLs” list. This list determines which Relativity instances you are able to login to using Rapid Loader.
Relativity Connector Manager Configuration
The Relativity Connector Manager (RCM) defines Rapid Loader’s interaction with any given workspace in a single instance. These setting are stored in the Case Manager Database (CMB ).
The RCM supports multiple Relativity instances and workspaces across those instances. However, you can only configure options for one instance at a time. The instance you are configuring depends on the Relativity instance you are currently logged into via Rapid Loader.
All settings specified in the RCM are shared between Rapid Loader and Rapid Loader.
There are 2 primary configuration levels:
- Instance-level Configuration – defines options that may copied to any workspace in the instance, provided a minimum set of identical options are available in a workspace
- Workspace-level Configuration – allows for a more granular approach to configure a workspace that deviates from your standard Relativity workspace template
Fig. 14 - The Relativity Connector Manager
Within each of the 2 configuration levels are 4 sub-configurations:
- Production QC Configuration – Used by Solid Proof
- Production Import Configuration – Used by Rapid Loader
- Processed Data Import Configuration – Used by Rapid Loader
- General Configuration – Used by Rapid Loader. Instance-level setting only
To begin configuring the instance configuration, you must first select a workspace that will be used as a template for the instance configuration. We recommend choosing a workspace that is based on a template as the basis for the majority of workspaces in your Relativity instance. Doing so will allow you to configure many workspaces with little effort.
If your instance configuration covers most workspaces, you will have an easy time configuring workspaces. In fact, the RCM will attempt to automatically copy the settings from the instance configuration.
Instance and workspace configuration involve selecting fields from a Relativity workspace. The RCM connects to a Relativity workspace and supplies you with only the fields you are most likely to select.
Some fields have a blue link icon. This icon indicates that a selection made here is copied to the corresponding field in the first 3 configuration subsets mentioned above.
